Well, everyone expects taxes, but maybe they don't anticipate how hard it can be to get money to move between countries. Or the totally unforeseen pitfalls of the person at the party?

Come and share the thing that happened to you which was least expected about being published? Or, if you're as aspirant writer, what are you most worried about post publication?

I've been really enjoying this series so far! (Seem to have run into some difficulties signing in over on the other platform, but I have been reading faithfully) The international tax thing is definitely a bugaboo, and I've run into that myself while living and working abroad. Very confusing come tax time! I don't think I ever considered the 'pitfalls of the person at the party' but I can see that being a real intersection of amusing and awkward depending on how it goes.

Post-publication, I'm definitely most worried about time management, like you mentioned before. I did working full time + grad school, and that was hard enough, knowing I had an end date in sight (and no social life at the time. 'What are you doing this weekend?' 'Homework.').

Thanks, toots.

The time management thing is on one level easy - be organised, keep a diary, etc - but on another level it's tricky because you have to learn to say 'no'. even to things you want to do.

*laugh* I'm awful at saying 'no' to things. I shall have to practice that (like believing 6 impossible things before breakfast, I've got that down to a T now. :) )

I've had to learn not to be guilty at saying "NO!"

I'm now imagining you singing "I'm just a girl who can't say no..."

Hah! That particular problem I don't have difficulty saying 'no' to. :P
