Then off to The Fox and Hounds at Crawley (the Hampshire one, which is a delightful little village), for steak and mushroom pudding and a poignant letter on display.

There are a lot of interesting spots around Winchester. Old Winchester Hill is an interesting place to walk - the views are impressive, although it does get a bit windy as it's so exposed.
