Thinking of Our 'Enry
May. 2nd, 2011 12:43 pmAm feeling all welled up with tears at the thought of Sir Henry Cooper being no longer with us. Great bloke. And, while I rarely excerpt works in progress, I can't resist quoting this bit:
“They must have a hell of a gym down at MI5,” Alex fingered the arms surrounding him. “You’ve got more muscle in your biceps than Henry Cooper in his prime.”
“Well, I don’t spend my whole life hunched over a computer or a hot desk full of gadgetry. Fat lot of use I’d be if I wasn’t fit enough to go out into the field sometimes.” Max laughed. “You're not very good at the old chat up lines, are you? Henry Cooper. You could have at least compared me to John Barrowman.”
“I’ll have you know Our ‘Enry was my first pin up. I can’t think of a higher compliment.”
